✅ Huronia West OPP Engages with Community at Local Events

(WASAGA BEACH/CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were pleased to participate in two well-attended community events on September 19, 2026, providing opportunities to engage with residents, visitors, and community partners while strengthening positive relationships throughout the region.

Officers attended the Stonebridge Wasaga Beach Blues Festival, a three-day outdoor music festival held in Wasaga Beach. As part of the event, the OPP displayed historic museum vehicle 7-500, which attracted interest from festival attendees and offered a unique opportunity to highlight the history of policing in Ontario.

On the same day, officers attended the See the Salmon Run event hosted by the Blue Mountain Watershed Trust in Nottawa. The event celebrated the annual return of Chinook salmon to their spawning grounds in the Pretty River and provided educational opportunities focused on environmental stewardship and local conservation efforts.

Community events such as these play an important role in fostering relationships between police and the communities they serve. Officers welcomed the opportunity to meet with residents, answer questions, share safety information, and connect with families in an informal setting.

The Huronia West OPP would like to thank the organizers, volunteers, and community members who helped make both events a success and who took the time to stop by and speak with officers.
