🎃 Explore, Create, and Discover at the Collingwood Museum this October

Collingwood, ON [02 October 2026] – There’s something of interest for everyone at the Collingwood Museum this October!

Guided downtown walking tours

Join Museum Staff for a one-hour guided walking tour through Downtown Collingwood on October 6 and October 13, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Uncover the Town’s rich history, from its early settlements and railway beginnings to its thriving shipyard, historic fires, and iconic buildings.

Experience the stories and landmarks that have shaped the community we know today. Tours depart from the Collingwood Museum, 45 St. Paul Street. No registration required. Participation is free. Voluntary donations are greatly appreciated.

Celebrate Collingwood’s women writers, poets, and storytellers

October is Women’s History Month in Canada, and the Collingwood Museum is celebrating with its newest Community Collector’s exhibit, From Pen to Page: The Literary Women of Collingwood. Explore a selection of works by local writers, poets, and storytellers who have shaped Collingwood’s history with the stroke of a pen. The exhibit will be on display between October 13 and December 31, 2026.

Haunted walking tours are back

The haunted walking tours are returning by popular demand. Join guest host Dean Hollin as he leads us through the shadowy streets of Collingwood’s Heritage Conservation District, sharing terrifying tales and ghostly stories. Learn about the mysterious smell of cigar smoke and unexplained footsteps in the former Enterprise Bulletin newspaper building, apparitions said to haunt the hallways of a doctor’s house, and so much more!

Dare to join? Guided tours will be offered on Friday, October 23, Thursday, October 29, and Friday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m. The 2 km walking loop will begin and end at the Collingwood Museum and take approximately 1.5 hours. Limited tickets are available for $16.95 (plus service fee) and can be purchased online through the Collingwood Museum’s website or by calling Museum staff. Tickets go on sale on Tuesday, October 6 at 9:00 a.m. and won’t last long!

Veterans Crosswalk Dedication Ceremony

The community is invited to attend the official Veterans Crosswalk Dedication Ceremony on Saturday, October 31 at 10:30 a.m. at the Collingwood Museum. The Town of Collingwood, in partnership with Royal Canadian Legion Branch 63, is proud to unveil a new Veterans Crosswalk across Veterans Crescent, connecting the Museum grounds with the Collingwood Cenotaph.

The Cenotaph’s location on the historic railway property holds special significance as the place of departure for many local men and women who served Canada in various conflicts. The new crosswalk creates a meaningful connection between this important history and our community’s ongoing commitment to remember and honour those who served.

Free Halloween Festive Craft

Participants of all ages are invited to join Museum Staff on Saturday, October 31, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., for an afternoon of Halloween fun. Create a festive Halloween bookmark and button, and explore the museum as you take part in a Halloween-themed scavenger hunt. And, of course, don’t forget to grab a treat along the way, while supplies last! Come celebrate Halloween with us and enjoy an afternoon of fun! Costumes encouraged. No registration required.
