(THE BLUE MOUNTAINS, ON) – Just before noon on March 02, 2025, members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police were dispatched to a theft in progress at the LCBO in Thornbury, ON. Two males entered the store and took numerous bottles of liquor and left without paying. The two males then fled in a stolen vehicle with approximately $800 in bottles of high-value scotch.

As the situation unfolded, the suspect vehicle was spotted by officers of the Collingwood OPP on Balsam street in the East end of the Town of Collingwood, ON. When a traffic stop was initiated by officers, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and violated the right-of-way at several intersections. Additional units converging on the area observed the vehicle travelling West towards the Blue Mountain ski hills. Officers of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP then located the suspect vehicle abandoned in a ski lodge parking lot. Details revealed that the vehicle, a Mitsubishi RVR, had been stolen out of Brampton on February 28, 2025. Additionally, police recovered a stolen licence plate, a small quantity of drugs believed to be methamphetamine and the stolen the bottles of scotch.

Further into the investigation, it was determined that one of the males had provided a false name to police and that both males were connected to other criminal investigations throughout the region. The Collingwood OPP held both accused in custody to appear before a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood. This hearing occurred on March 03, 2025.
