During the month of May, the Town of The Blue Mountains is proud to recognize Building Safety Month and acknowledge the important role building professionals play in ensuring the safety of homes, buildings and infrastructure throughout the community.

This year’s theme, “Celebrating a Legacy of Building Safety,” marks the 70th anniversary of the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA) and highlights the essential role building officials have played in supporting safe construction practices, both historically and into the future.

Established in 1956, the OBOA was formed to strengthen building inspection standards across Ontario, promote consistent regulations and support the education and professional development of building officials. Today, the OBOA continues to advance the building industry through training, knowledge sharing and the consistent application of building regulations, helping to ensure that buildings across Ontario are safe, compliant and built to protect the communities they serve.

In The Blue Mountains, building safety is supported through the ongoing work of the Town’s Building Services team, which works closely with residents and industry professionals to guide projects from application to completion. From initial plan review to final inspection, their work helps ensure development is well-built, supports local growth and protects the long-term well-being of the community.

The Town extends its sincere appreciation to all building professionals for their continued dedication to safe, strong and sustainable communities.
