VIDEOS | Great Performance by the soul and R&B band Boomerang | Duncan Bristow
A huge, thank you to Collingwood’s own Duncan Bristow for capturing these wonderful videos!
The good vibes were flowing as an appreciative crowd soaked up a night of soulful sound. Boomerang, Collingwood’s beloved soul and R&B outfit, brought the horns and the heat for a free evening under the stars as part of the Jazz and Blues LIVE at the Station outdoor music series.
This eight- to nine-piece powerhouse band is known for sweeping audiences back in time with vintage soul, R&B, and Motown favourites — a familiar and much-loved presence at Theatre Collingwood shows and summer concerts around town.
Fronted by the ever-charismatic Gary Diggins, the band paid homage to icons like Stevie Wonder, Wilson Pickett, and Tower of Power, keeping toes tapping and hearts full all evening long. 🎷✨
The Mike McCarthy Band is scheduled to perform live at Jazz & Blues LIVE at the Station on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
The concert takes place outdoors at The Station Park on the Collingwood Museum grounds, located at 45 St. Paul Street in Collingwood, Ontario. The event runs from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

- Admission: Free to attend, though cash donations are encouraged to support high school and elementary music programs.
- Seating: Bring your own lawn chairs, camping chairs, or picnic blankets as seating is not provided.
- Atmosphere: All-ages and family-friendly with space available for dancing.
- Food & Drink: Refreshments are available for purchase, featuring cool summer treats from the Collingwood Ice Cream Co. along with beer and snacks provided by SideLaunch Brewing.
Despite the event series name, the hometown favourite Mike McCarthy Band does not play traditional jazz. They are best known for a hard-driving, melodic fusion of neo-country, southern rock, and Canadiana. The performance features gritty guitar riffs, soulful keyboard melodies, and powerful group harmonies.
