✅ Adam Harrod | Safe Schools: Supporting Students and Protecting Staff
As a father of two daughters attending local public schools, school safety is personal to me. It is also one of my three campaign priorities.
Safe schools are about more than responding to serious incidents. They are about preventing problems, supporting students with complex needs, addressing bullying and ensuring education workers have the resources necessary to do their jobs safely.
Teachers, EAs, ECEs, custodians, administrators and other school staff deserve to feel safe at work. Students deserve learning environments where they feel supported and protected.
As a trustee, I would focus on asking important questions:
- Are safety concerns being properly reported and addressed?
- Are students receiving the behavioural and mental-health supports they need?
- Do education workers have adequate training, staffing and resources?
- Are existing safety policies working?
Trustees cannot manage individual schools or investigate incidents themselves, but they can ask questions, review information, examine how resources are allocated and hold the school board accountable through its governance processes.
I believe supporting students and protecting staff must go hand in hand.
If elected, I intend to remain connected to our school communities, listen to families and education workers, and ask questions about how safety concerns are being addressed.
Safe Schools • Strong Education • Responsible Leadership
