Town Shares Key Voting Information Ahead of Municipal Election

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to remind the public that the 2026 Municipal Election is approaching, with the Voting Period beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16 and closing at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026.

To help electors prepare, the Town is sharing important information about voter registration, voting options, available assistance and accessibility measures.

Eligible electors registered on the Voters’ List can expect to receive their Voter Information Letter by mail by October 13. The letter contains the information needed to vote, including a unique Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Residents who have not received their letter or are unsure whether they are registered to vote are encouraged to check whether they are on the Voters’ List by using the online Voter Look-Up tool. Eligible electors who are not currently on the Voters’ List can also register using the same tool by providing the required information and uploading photos of accepted identification documents. For a complete list of voter eligibility criteria and accepted forms of identification, please visit the Town’s Elections webpage.

Eligible electors in the Town of The Blue Mountains can vote online or by telephone from anywhere, at any time during the Voting Period. For step-by-step instructions on how to vote, residents are encouraged to watch Simply Voting’s How to Vote video guide, available on the Town’s Election webpage.

For electors who prefer to vote using a computer at Town Hall or require assistance with the voting process, Town staff will be available at the Election Help Center, located in the Town Hall, Council Chambers. Staff can also assist with checking registration status, adding eligible electors to the Voters’ List and answering questions about the election.

The Election Help Centre will be open during the following hours:

  • Friday, October 16: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 17: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

The L.E. Shore Memorial Library will also have a computer terminal available for electors wishing to vote online during regular library hours. Public Wi-Fi is available at both Town Hall and the Library for residents who wish to vote using their personal devices.

The Town is committed to providing an accessible election and ensuring that all candidates and electors with disabilities have full and equal access to election information and services, including assistance available at the Election Help Centre. As part of this commitment, the Town has published its 2026 Election Accessibility Plan, which outlines measures to identify, remove and prevent barriers that may affect candidates and electors with disabilities.

Residents are encouraged to review the Accessibility Plan and other election resources available on the Town’s Elections webpage. Questions about the election or requests for additional assistance can also be directed to the Clerk’s Office at townclerk@thebluemountains.ca.
