Collingwood Festival for Canada: A Canada Day Celebration

Collingwood, ON [19 June 2024] – The Collingwood Festival for Canada is back, promising four days of festivities and fun from June 28 to July 1, 2024. Celebrate Canada’s rich culture and heritage with a line-up of events that offer something for everyone.

“The Collingwood Festival for Canada is the perfect way to kick off the summer, by celebrating our great country with neighbours, family, and friends in Downtown Collingwood. Council is looking forward to celebrating with you all this Canada Day weekend!” said Mayor Yvonne Hamlin.

Kicking off on June 28 at the Shipyards Amphitheatre, music enthusiasts can enjoy live performances from Bernadette Conners starting at 6:00 p.m. and headliner Hunter at 7:00 p.m. The Shipyards Amphitheatre Concert Series is generously sponsored by FRAM + Slokker, Collingwood Quay Condos, and Living Water Resorts. Check out this amazing summer venue located at 2 North Maple. 

On June 29, Downtown Collingwood comes alive with the Canada Day Stomp, a music-filled journey through the heart of downtown. Join the procession on foot, in a wheelchair, or stroller and soak in the lively atmosphere. The music starts at 11:00 a.m. and runs through to 4:30 p.m.

Families are in for a treat at the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena for Kids Day 2024. A family event that aims to create a memorable experience for all ages including a diverse range of live entertainment, as well as captivating performances from local and regional musicians, awe-inspiring acrobatics with interactive shows tailored to engage and delight attendees of all ages. Visit the Town Square Park (across from Town Hall) on Saturday or Sunday and have fun at the LEGO® Creative Club Kids Zone. Create and build with over 15,000 LEGO® Bricks and 500+ EverBlocks. As part of your visit also enjoy face painting and balloon art.

Canada Day, July 1, begins with a scrumptious Pancake Breakfast at Town Square Park from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. At the Federal Building, participate in the Citizenship Reaffirmation Ceremony starting at noon followed by a special Canada Day cake celebration.

Watch the annual Rubber Duck Race hosted by the Optimist Club starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Hume Street bridge, a beloved tradition in Collingwood. Cap off the celebrations with breathtaking fireworks launched from Millennium Point. The best viewing spots include Harbourview Park, the Shipyards Amphitheatre, and along the Promenade.

“We are thrilled to host the Collingwood Festival for Canada once again, offering a diverse range of activities that celebrate our nation’s birthday,” said Rosemarie O’Brien, Festivals Coordinator.
“It’s a wonderful time for our community to come together, enjoy great music, and delicious food, and create lasting memories,” added Susan Nicholson, General Manager, Collingwood Downtown Business Improvement Area (BIA).

About Collingwood Downtown

Collingwood Downtown is a Municipal Local Board established for the main purpose of revitalizing the central business district of the Town of Collingwood. It is designated as a Business Improvement Area (BIA) through the Ontario Municipal Act and a town of Collingwood bylaw originally enacted in 1977. Collingwood Downtown is governed by volunteer Board of Directors consisting of eight members elected from the Downtown business community and property owners and a council representative appointed by Council. The association is funded by a levy placed on the property taxes of each owner within the designated boundaries.
