COLLINGWOOD-MUSIC-FESTIVAL

Join Daniel Vnukowski, James Campbell, Andrea Ludwig, Moshe Hammer and Jaclyn Grossman, for a musical adventure!

TUESDAY, JULY 9, AT 7 PM

First Presbyterian Church Collingwood

Visual artist Alan Stein was inspired by recently-translated messages on old family postcards dating from the Russian Revolution through WWII to create a series of charcoal drawings and paintings highlighting actual and imagined events from his grandparent’s lives. These images, old family photographs, and reproductions of the postcards themselves, will be projected and accompanied by heartwarming Yiddish songs, profoundly moving children’s poems, and include music by Fritz Kreisler and Kurt Weill.

Join us for this captivating, musical journey in reconstructing the story of their lives with piano, clarinet, violin, mezzo-soprano and narration. Starring Daniel Vnukowski, piano; James Campbell, clarinet; Moshe Hammer, violin; Andrea Ludwig, mezzo-soprano and Jaclyn Grossman, narration. The music features renowned Canadian musicians performing an array of works to complement the narrative thread, including heart-warming Yiddish songs, profoundly moving children’s poems set to music and stirring works by a variety of Jewish composers. Starring Andrew Ludwig, mezzo-soprano; James Campbell, clarinet; Moshe Hammer, violin and Daniel Vnukowski, piano.
