    Collingwood OPP Arrest Suspect in Break and Enter Investigation

    Collingwood, ON – On April 4, 2025, at approximately 4:58 am, officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at a residence in Collingwood.

    The complainant reported waking to the sound of someone exiting the residence. Several items were discovered stolen, including a gaming console with controllers and a jacket containing vehicle and business keys.

    Police arrived on scene shortly after 5:00 am. It was reported that the male suspect was seen fleeing the area on a bicycle. During the investigation, officers were able to determine the suspect’s identity and then attended a residence linked to the suspect. The male, identified as 43-year-old Mason SCHROTH, was arrested at approximately 6:00 am without incident.

    Most of the stolen items, including the keys and controllers, were recovered. A Nintendo Wii gaming console remains outstanding. The accused is set to appear before the Collingwood Ontario Court of Justice on May 13, 2025, to answer to the following charges:

    ·        Break & Enter a Dwelling contrary to s348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

    ·        Theft Under $5000 contrary to s334(b) of the Criminal Code
