(COLLINGWOOD, ON) – On April 10, 2025, members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an 18-year-old female in connection with multiple occurrences involving the use of forged prescriptions to obtain narcotics from pharmacies. This arrest was made as part of a much broader investigation spanning multiple jurisdictions in Ontario.

Between January 20 and January 27, 2025, the accused attended two pharmacies in Collingwood, ON, and presented fraudulent prescriptions, claiming to pick up medications for others. A pharmacist grew suspicious when inconsistencies were noted in the prescriptions, including differing patient names and prescribing doctors. As a result, police were notified, and an in-depth investigation was launched.

Upon her arrest, police determined that the 18-year-old falsely identified herself to authorities, resulting in additional charges of obstruction and impersonation. The female, who will not be identified, was held for a bail hearing on April 14, 2025, at the Ontario Court of Justice to answer to the following charges:

  • Use, Deals, Acts on Forged Document – Criminal Code 368(1)(a) – 2 counts
  • Fraud Under $5,000 – Criminal Code 380(1)(b) – 2 counts
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – Criminal Code 354(1)(a) – 2 counts
  • Obstruct Peace Officer – Criminal Code 129(a)
  • Personation with intent – Criminal Code 403(1)(d)
