Collingwood, ON [02 April 2026] – The Town of Collingwood is pleased to announce continued success in its physician recruitment efforts, with two new family physicians, Dr. Joseph Morley and Dr. Zahra Daya, having signed Physician Agreements through the Town’s Physician Incentive Program.
Both physicians are expected to relocate to Collingwood and begin practicing in the community no later than November 1, 2026.
Dr. Morley and Dr. Daya are UK-trained General Practitioners who bring a wealth of experience in primary care, including chronic disease management, mental health, geriatrics, and team-based care. In addition to their clinical work, both are actively engaged in teaching and mentorship within their current practices, supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Their decision to relocate reflects not only a strong professional opportunity, but also meaningful personal connections to the region. With family ties to the area and prior time spent in and around Georgian Bay, both physicians have developed a deep appreciation for Collingwood’s vibrant, growing community and its unique quality of life.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Morley and Dr. Daya to Collingwood,” said Mayor Hamlin. “Their addition represents important progress in improving access to primary care in our community and reflects the continued success of Council’s Physician Incentive Program in attracting highly skilled healthcare professionals.”
Dr. Morley completed his medical degree at the University of Leicester and has since gained broad experience across multiple specialties, including surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and internal medicine. He was awarded the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Excellence Award for achieving top examination results in his training region. He currently provides comprehensive care to a diverse patient population, including dedicated work in long-term care settings.
Dr. Daya earned her medical degree from the University of Buckingham and completed her GP specialty training in 2024. She has extensive experience across a range of disciplines, including emergency medicine, psychiatry, geriatrics, dermatology, and palliative care. She currently practices in a team-based environment, managing both acute and chronic conditions, and serves as a palliative care lead while also mentoring physicians in training.
Both physicians expressed enthusiasm about joining the Collingwood community and contributing to its future healthcare landscape. With ongoing growth in the region and plans for a new hospital, they see Collingwood as an ideal place to build their careers and establish long-term roots.
This recruitment marks another significant step forward in enhancing access to primary care services locally and demonstrates the Town’s ongoing commitment to supporting a strong and sustainable healthcare system.
