Construction Notice – Thornbury West Reconstruction Phase 1B

    Sharing is SO MUCH APPRECIATED!

On behalf of the Town of The Blue Mountains, Tatham Engineering has completed preliminary design, detailed design and tendering for the Thornbury West Reconstruction – Phase 1B. This phase includes full reconstruction of Park Lane, Lorne Street, Elma Street South from Louisa Street to Alfred Street, Louisa Street West from Bruce Street to Elma Street, and Alice Street West from Bruce Street to the end of the Phase 1A construction limits.

The project has been tendered and the construction contract has been awarded to Moorefield Excavating Ltd. Work is expected to begin on Louisa Street in late April, followed by Elma Street beginning in early June and Alice Street in late July.

    Project Scope

    • Replacement of sanitary sewers on Louisa Street, Elma Street and Alice Street, including the replacement of all sanitary services to property line.
    • Replacement of watermains on Louisa Street, Elma Street and Alice Street, including the replacement of fire hydrants and water services to property line.
    • Installation of storm sewers throughout the project limits with storm services provided to each property.
    • Reconstruction of all roads within the project limits, complete with the installation of new curb, gutter and sidewalks to AODA Standards.
    • Change of traffic pattern on Louisa Street West between Bruce Street and Elma Street to a westbound, one-way road.
    • Streetlight upgrades including Phase 1A area.
    • Planting of street trees and establishment of an urban forest on south slope of Louisa Street West.
    • Restoration of disturbed areas to match existing conditions

    What To Expect

You may experience traffic delays, lane restrictions, dust, noise, vibrations and other inconveniences during reconstruction. The Town will work with the contractor to reduce these impacts where possible by maintaining standard working hours and providing written notice of planned service interruptions or restrictions. We appreciate your patience throughout the project. Work will be occurring mainly within Town property with very limited work on private property for service connections. Should you have any concerns during construction, please contact the Site Supervisor.

The Town will not be responsible for damage to any privately owned features such as landscaping, decorations, etc. located on Town property within the right-of-way. The Town will identify privately-owned features and discuss removal options with the property owner prior to removal by the Contractor.
