Meet Samson
Samson is a 11 months old male Medium Mixed Breed who weighs 34 kilograms.
Hi Friends!
I’m the glorious Samson, an 11-month-old boy looking for my new home! When I first came into care, I reacted pretty strongly when strangers passed by my door-lots of growling, big barks, and retreating. But guess what? I’ve been doing much better! I’m starting to calm down around new people and can even ignore them when they walk by. Progress, right? In fact I am so smart and I want so badly to make you happy that I learn very quickly and I will impress you with how great I am at training! And remember I am still very young and learning how to be my bestest self. Also, I am a very big fan of cuddling and love so prepare for a lot of love coming your way if you bring me home!
I’ll be honest, I can still be a bit jumpy and mouthy with my human friends, but don’t worry, I’m smart remember! I’ve been working hard on my basic skills and am figuring out how to express myself in ways that don’t involve jumping up. When I’m out on walks, I can be a little strong on the leash but, for the most part, I’m an easy guy to walk with. That said, if I see another dog on a leash, I get a little overstimulated and might pull on the leash, bark, and play tug with it. I’m still learning how to handle these moments, but with patience and positive reinforcement, I’m sure I’ll improve.
I’ve had some experience with kids, but I think it’s best if I go to a home with older kids, 15+, who understand my size, When it comes to other dogs, I’m a social guy! I’ve done great on pack walks, meeting other dogs through fences, and I’ve even lived with multiple dogs before. I’d be happy to meet any potential dog siblings in my new home! However, I’m not sure about cats, so a home without them would be best for now. I’m looking for a family who’s willing to keep working with me using positive reinforcement methods. I’m still learning basic obedience and need some help with loose leash walking, but I promise I’m worth the effort! Ideally, my new home would have experience with large breed dogs and those like me-fearful, reactive, and with a bit of a working dog background. If you think you’re the right fit for me, I can’t wait to meet you. Together, we can build an amazing bond and I’ll show you how sweet I can be once I trust you. Let’s make it happen!
My adoption fee is $400 and includes my spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, dewormer and a microchip. If you want to learn more about me, please come visit the GTHS and speak with one of the amazing Adoption Counsellors! The GTHS is open for adoptions from 12pm-4:00pm, every single day of the week and they would be thrilled to introduce you to me! I can’t wait to meet you and am looking forward to starting my new life with my new family!
