    Meet Moose

Moose is a 1 year, 6 months old male Large Mixed Breed who weighs 31 kilograms.

    Hey guys!

I’m Moose – a 1.5-year-old big, handsome, bouncy boy with a whole lot of love and personality to give! I’m full of fun and affection, and I bring big energy and big heart wherever I go. I love life and get excited about just about everything. When I’m out on leash, I can get a little too excited when I see other dogs or certain people – I’ll sometimes bark and hit the end of my leash. But don’t worry – I’m working on it! I’ve already made great progress with basic obedience and learning alternative behaviors, and I’m super food motivated, so training is fun for me. I’m also a gentle treat taker (bonus points, right?).

When I first arrived, I was a little unsure about strangers walking by my door – I’d bark and then retreat. But I got more comfortable quickly, and I’m getting better every day. I can still be a bit jumpy when I’m excited, but I’m learning not to do that too. I just need someone patient and positive who’s willing to keep working with me. I’m strong (as you might expect from a guy my size!), and I can pull if something catches my eye. But overall, I’m pretty manageable, and with continued loose leash training, I’ll only get better. I’m social with other dogs, though I come on a little strong at first and appreciate a buddy who enjoys rough and rowdy play. If another dog is easily offended or doesn’t like energetic play styles, we probably won’t be a great match. I haven’t met cats, so I’m not sure what I think of them. Because of my size and enthusiasm, I’d do best in a home with older kids who can handle my goofy bounces and help me stay on track.

I’m looking for a home that:

Uses positive reinforcement training (that’s what helps me thrive!)

Will keep working with me on basic manners and leash skills

Has experience with large breed and reactive dogs

If you’re the kind of person who loves a big goofball with a huge heart and is ready to keep helping me shine, I think we could be a great match.

My adoption fee is $400 and includes my spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, dewormer and a microchip. If you want to learn more about me, please come visit the GTHS and speak with one of the amazing Adoption Counsellors! The GTHS is open for adoptions from 12pm-4:00pm, every single day of the week and they would be thrilled to introduce you to me! I can’t wait to meet you and am looking forward to starting my new life with my new family!

    Meet Gus (Special Paws)

Gus (Special Paws) is a 6 years, 4 months old male Domestic Longhair/Mix cat who weighs 7 kilograms.

    Hi,

I’m Gus. Yes, THE Gus. I’m a six-year-old certified handsome lad and former full-time lap cat turned (temporary!) shelter dweller. It took the humans here a couple of weeks to earn my trust, and honestly? They’re not too bad. I now allow gentle pets-but only from the people I’ve personally approved (and believe me, I know things). Every day I get a little more relaxed, a little more confident, and a little closer to reclaiming my rightful role as Couch King of the Universe. In my previous life, I was a Grade A lap warmer and porch explorer (supervised, of course-I’m not a maniac). I enjoy soft spots, quiet vibes, and keeping one paw on my people at all times. I will not, under any circumstances, be accepting children, dogs, or vet appointments (I know I don’t have a choice on that one but let me state I don’t like them) into my circle. I’m looking for a calm, child-free castle (apartment, house etc. also acceptable) with humans who understand that trust takes time, but once you have it? You have a loyal, chonky, opinionated shadow forever. So-got a couch, some snacks, and excellent taste in cats? Let’s talk.

Now, I’m sure you’re wondering about this whole “Special Paws” part, right? Well, in summary, I’m really in this program because I need to be on a special type of food for the rest of my life. This particular diet is important for uhm…when nature calls? hehe it just helps make sure my #1 habits (if you will) are nice and regular! So, as long as I stay on my special food, we should have no problems! But, to help try to offset the cost of this food and bit and make sure I find my purr-fect person who will take great care of me, the GTHS has put me in the Special Paws Program and lowered my adoption fee!

My special paws adoption fee is $25 and includes my spay/neuter, internal and external parasite treatments, up to date vaccinations and an ID microchip!

    Opionated Purrs,

    Gus
