You’re guaranteed to have a spook-tacular time listening to terrifying tales and ghostly stories as you walk the shadowy streets of Collingwood’s Heritage Conservation District. You’ll hear about ghostly experiences, including the smell of cigar smoke and footsteps in the former Enterprise Bulletin newspaper building, apparitions in the hallways of a doctor’s house, and so much more!

Evening guided tours will be offered on Friday, October 24, Wednesday, October 29, and Thursday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m. The 2 km walking loop will begin and end at the Collingwood Museum and take approximately 1.5 hours. Limited tickets are available for $16.95 (plus service fee) and can be purchased online through the Collingwood Museum’s website or by calling Museum staff.

Tales by Lantern Light PA Day Program

Step into the glow of lantern light for a morning of mysterious tales and old-time magic! In this Halloween-themed PA Day program, children ages 6 – 12 will discover how stories were told before electricity, using magic lanterns, stereoscopes, and zoetropes to make images dance. We’ll explore curious artifacts and make our very own working zoetrope to take home.

The program runs on Friday, October 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Preregistration is required. $15 per child, or $12 for Museum Members.

New online collection documents legacy of Collingwood business

Staff are pleased to announce the launch of the Smart Bros. Ltd. Online Collection. This newly digitized archive includes over 300 artifacts and records that highlight the rich history of Smart Bros. Ltd., an important part of Collingwood’s industrial heritage between 1890 and 1970. Explore this fascinating chapter of Collingwood’s past by visiting the online catalogue from the comfort of your computer, tablet, or smartphone. You can also access a new driving tour that takes you through the streets of Collingwood in search of streets, buildings, and interpretive panels that speak to the company’s 80-year operation. Physical copies of the tour are available for pick-up at the Museum.
