Join us for an evening of art & entertainment in support of My Friend’s House on Saturday, September 21st at Side Launch Brewery!

The inaugural HeART of Red Gala presented by Studio Ciel will showcase artists and their work from all different mediums in an effort to raise much needed funds for the Southern Georgian Bay women’s shelter, My Friend’s House. 

The impactful evening will feature live music by Karla Crawford trio band, food catered by Chef Steven Doucet of Mamacita Tacoria, drink and silent auction for unique pieces of art to help women and children who are fleeing abusive situations in the region. 

Catherine Garceau, Olympic Bronze Medalist from Sydney 2000, a survivor of DV, sharing her story of hope and resilience as a single mom of 3 little girls.

Owen Sound’s poet laureate emeritus, Richard-Yves Sitoski will also present an excerpt from his theatre production “Butterfly Tongue”. 

It will be an evening of celebrating art in all forms in effort to raise funds for My Friend’s House.

Venue: Side Launch Brewing Company, 200 Mountain Road, Collingwood, Ontario

Dress Code: This is an indoor event – please dress semi formal

Inclusions: One drink ticket on arrival, hors d’oeuvres, art and fabulous entertainment by the Karla Crawford band

Food catered by Steven Doucet of Mamacita Tacoria

Tax Receipt: A $100 tax receipt will automatically be issued for each ticket purchased

Presented by Studio Ciel – Studio Ciel is a contemporary gallery space in the heart of Creative Simcoe Street, Collingwood, Ontario’s vibrant Art District. Their goal is to connect art lovers and collectors with the most original, engaging new voices in Contemporary art. They feature artists from across Canada, as well as highlight the incredible work of local Georgian Bay artists through rotating exhibitions. My Friend’s House goal for the evening is to connect engaging community members with artists by showcasing original pieces of artwork in an effort to raise awareness while helping women and children fleeing abusive situations.

My Friend’s House provides shelter, crisis support and advocates for equity for women and children in the South Georgian Bay area experiencing gender-based violence and abuse.

My Friend’s House impact at a glance in 2023/2024:

38 women and 37 children accessed the shelter

15,213 nutritious meals served

4572 crisis calls (1,508 information and support calls)

572 women accessed community outreach programming 

91 children and Youth accessed individual and group counselling

53% reported physical and/or sexual violence

22% injured on arrival

38% feared for their life

100% suffered emotional and psychological abuse

43% experienced technology abuse

72% financial abuse
