Mayor Andrea Matrosovs Appointed to the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative’s Board of Directors

    Sharing is SO MUCH APPRECIATED!

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise the public that Town of The Blue Mountains Mayor and Grey County Warden, Andrea Matrosovs, has been appointed to the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative’s Board of Directors and will serve as a Canadian Co-Chair of the Mayors Commission on Water Access.

In this role, Matrosovs will represent both the Town and County, focusing on critical water and environmental issues, protecting and preserving the Great Lakes watershed that plays a key role in local communities.

Matrosovs brings extensive experience to this position, having previously served as a Regional Lead and assuming the position of Co-Chair of the Mayors Commission on Water Equity in 2024. Last year, Matrosovs was also honoured with the Ontario Member of the Year Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the organization’s mission of promoting access to clean, safe and affordable water for all residents of the basin.

“I am proud to represent the Town and Grey County alongside mayors, First Nations and Tribal leaders from both Canada and the States,” said Matrosovs, “The Great Lakes from the headwaters at the top of our escarpment to the St. Lawrence are central to our identity and way of life. It is a watershed that connects all our communities. I am committed to working alongside fellow leaders to advocate for equitable access to infrastructure to provide clean, safe, and affordable water for present and future generations.”

The Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative is a multinational coalition of over 300 municipal and Indigenous government executives representing communities in the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River Region. The Cities Initiative works to promote economic prosperity in its communities and protect fresh water for the benefit of current and future generations. The organization integrates environmental, economic and social agendas to sustain a resource that represents approximately 20 percent of the world’s surface freshwater supply, provides drinking water for 40 million people, and is the foundation upon which a strong regional economy is based.

#zhangzhehan_super3 #張哲瀚 #張哲瀚八月 #紀錄片八月 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLwMG6XoJ34&t=11s
