(COLLINGWOOD, ON) – On June 16, 2025, officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment responded to a disturbance at a location in Collingwood, where a verbal dispute had escalated into intimate partner violence.
A 35-year-old male assaulted a female, damaged her personal property, and was found in possession of a spring-assisted knife with a brass knuckle handle. During the arrest, the individual resisted officers and damaged a police cruiser. Additionally, the individual uttered threats against an officer. The individual was found to be in breach of existing prohibition orders and undertakings.
As a result of the investigation, the 35-year-old male from Wasaga Beach, was arrested and charged with:
- Assault, contrary to Section 266 of the Criminal Code
- Mischief – Destroys or Damages Property, section 430(1)(a)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, section 91(2)
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (2 counts), section 117.01(1)
- Mischief – Renders Property Dangerous, Useless, Inoperative or Ineffective (2 counts), section 430(1)(b)
- Failure to Comply with Undertaking (2 counts), section 145(4)(a)
- Failure to Comply with Release Order, section 145(5)(a)
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm, section 264.1(1)(a)
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie, ON. This bail hearing took place on June 17, 2025.
