October is Cyber Security Awareness Month, and this year’s theme is Get Cyber Safe – for future you. Cyber threats are constantly evolving, and so are tactics fraudsters use to exploit Canadians. The Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre (CAFC) would like to remind Canadians that cyber security isn’t only about protecting your devices; it’s also about protecting yourself from fraud. By learning how criminals operate and taking simple steps today, you can build strong cyber habits that will safeguard your money, your identity, and your future. This week, we are looking at protecting yourself from investment fraud. While investing can be a smart way to plan for the future, criminals exploit Canadians through promises of guaranteed returns, risk-free crypto investment platforms, and by using fake endorsements. About Investment and Crypto Investment Fraud:
•Fraudsters use social media ads, text messages, emails, and fake trading platforms to lure Canadians into sending money.
•They may impersonate politicians, celebrities, financial advisors, or government agencies to gain trust.
•Once money is sent, it’s often transferred overseas and is very difficult to recover.
How to Protect Yourself from Investment Fraud:
•Be suspicious of any investment with “guaranteed” or “risk-free” returns.
•Never send money based on pressure or urgency.
•Verify if the investment companies are registered with your Provincial Securities Agency or the National Registration Search Tool .
•Prior to investing, ask for information on the investment. Research the team behind the offering and analyze the feasibility of the project.
•Be wary of individuals met on dating or social media who attempt to educate and convince you to invest into cryptocurrency.
•Beware of fraudsters asking you to open and fund new crypto accounts. They will direct you to send it to wallets they control.
Anyone who suspects they have been the victim of cybercrime or fraud should report it to their local police and to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre’s online reporting system or by phone at 1-888-495-8501. If not a victim, you should still report the incident to the CAFC.

According to the profound insights of Carl Jung, the soul endures its most rigorous tests in absolute silence, far beyond the reach of conventional therapy or well-meaning advice.
This transformative process, which Jung termed “individuation,” often occurs through a doorway of profound suffering, leaving no external scars but fundamentally altering one’s consciousness from within. This exploration delves into the seven subtle signs that indicate you have successfully navigated this hidden initiation, from a transformed relationship with solitude and your own shadow to the emergence of energetic sovereignty and a deep, intuitive connection to the Self.
These signs are not achievements to be celebrated, but quiet recognitions of a consciousness that has been forever changed. They mark a “second psychological birth,” where you develop a resilient psyche that metabolizes difficulty into wisdom, possesses immunity to the projections of others, and operates from a place of inner authority rather than external validation. If you find yourself embodying a newfound stillness, authentic wholeness, and a trust in your own capacity to meet life’s challenges, you may have already passed your soul’s most demanding examination and emerged more essentially yourself than ever before.

Meet Bo (Underdog)
Bo (Underdog) is a 2 years, 7 months old male Large Mixed Breed who weighs 26 kilograms.
Yeehaw, folks! Name’s Bo Duke-yep, that Bo, partner-in-crime to my brother Luke. Just like the original Duke boys, I’m a whole lot of energy, charm, and mischief rolled into one handsome package. I came in as a stray with Luke, and now I’m looking for a forever family who’s ready for some action-packed adventures (and plenty of training to keep me on the straight and narrow!).
I’m about 2.5 years old, so I’ve got some growing up under my belt, but don’t be fooled-I’m still a high-octane, rowdy boy who loves to run, jump, and play. Sometimes I get too excited and will jump up, mouth, or even mount when I don’t know how else to handle my big feelings. I also don’t love when people grab my collar suddenly-it makes me nervous-but I did great with a bath, so I know I can learn that handling can be positive with trust and practice.
On leash, I can be strong and pull toward people or dogs (who wouldn’t want to say hi?), but with positive reinforcement, I can learn calm walking skills. I get a little vocal in my kennel when other dogs pass, but once I’m out in the yard, I usually start polite, enjoy some rowdy play, and then let the other dog know when I’ve had enough. I’ve got good doggie communication skills and prefer friends who respect my signals. Cats? Well, jury’s still out on that one.
Because I’m a big, excitable boy who can get over-aroused, I’m best suited for older kids (16+) and an experienced adopter who knows their way around high-energy dogs. What I really need is structure, calm guidance, and positive reinforcement training to help me shine. With the right family, I’ll be the loyal, fun-loving, adventurous sidekick you’ve been looking for.
So, what do you say-wanna saddle up and take this Duke boy home? I promise life will never be boring with me by your side.
I’m part of the Underdog Program, meaning I have some behavior challenges to work on. Don’t worry, the GTHS will provide resources to help us succeed, including a free consult with a behavior specialist and a special adoption kit full of goodies. I’m a smart, loving boy, and with love, patience, and some training, I know I’ll be the best dog you have ever had!
My Underdog adoption fee is $100 and includes my spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, dewormer and a microchip. If you want to learn more about me, please come visit the GTHS and speak with one of the amazing Adoption Counsellors! The GTHS is open for adoptions from 12pm-4:00pm, every single day of the week and they would be thrilled to introduce you to me! I can’t wait to meet you and am looking forward to starting my new life with my new family!
Our resident chaos coordinator, “Frankie Malloy” is staging another animal-pocalypse, and this time it’s going down on a Wednesday (because why should weekends have all the fun?). Enjoy the video!!!
Meet Duckie
Duckie is a 3 years, 4 months old female Domestic Shorthair/Mix cat who weighs 4 kilograms.
Hi, I’m Duckie! I’m a 3-year-old sweetheart with the cutest eyes you’ve ever seen (or so I’ve been told). I’m affectionate, loving, and sometimes a little chatty when I want your attention-I just have a lot to say! My previous family described me as a “playful, active couch potato,” which I think sums me up perfectly. I love a good play session, but I’m just as happy to curl up beside you and soak up all the love.
Some of my favourite things? Getting snuggles from my humans and munching on Temptations treats. I get along well with other cats (with proper introductions) and I’ve even lived with dogs before and did just fine! I’d also be happy to share my home with kids-just keep an eye on the toys. I have a special fondness for certain ones, and the adoption counselor will fill you in on my funny little obsession.
If you’re looking for a cuddly companion with a playful side and the most adorable eyes, I just might be your girl.
My adoption fee is $185 and includes my spay/neuter, internal and external parasite treatments, up to date vaccinations and an ID microchip!

He pioneered the technology that powers modern AI, and now he is sounding the alarm.
Geoffrey Hinton, often called the “Godfather of AI,” explains why artificial intelligence is accelerating out of control, why governments and companies cannot slow it down, and what the rise of superintelligence means for jobs, inequality, and the future of humanity.
Hinton reveals why AI may replace nearly all forms of intellectual work, how it could surpass human intelligence within decades, and why digital systems already have advantages humans can never match. He also warns of the risks to democracy, the dangers of wealth inequality, and the haunting possibility that AI could one day decide it no longer needs us
Discover:
Why competition between nations and companies is speeding up AI beyond control
The risks of mass joblessness and why many professions may vanish
How AI could widen the gap rich and poor and destabilize society
Why superintelligence might arrive within 10 to 20 years
