(WASAGA BEACH, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a drowning incident in the Town of Wasaga Beach.
On Saturday, July 26, 2025, at approximately 1:05 p.m., emergency services responded to a residence on River Road East following reports of a missing kayaker.
A 24-year-old male from Toronto had been kayaking with two others when their vessel overturned. While others quickly resurfaced, the one individual did not.
Upon arrival, the Wasaga Beach Fire Department located and recovered the missing person and started resuscitation efforts. The individual was transported to hospital by County of Simcoe Paramedic Services and was later pronounced deceased.
The identity of the victim is not being released at this time, out of respect for the family’s privacy. The OPP would like to thank members of the public who provided assistance.
