I’m participating in The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation Ride to raise money for life-saving cancer research. Please sponsor me and help make a difference. Together, with your support, I can reach my fundraising goal.
As many of you know, I have been fighting Bladder Cancer for about 10 years. About 5 years ago, I was told my cancer was gone, but I insisted on continuing regular 3 month check ups and in the fall of 2024 they found another tumour. Fortunately, my Oncologist, Dr Shridhar found a Trial program for me to try and qualify for. After batteries of tests, they approved me for the Trial. Since then, I have been on weekly treatment that took 2 days out of my week. After about a year of treatment, we found that my tumour was shrinking but side affects started to hamper my quality of life and Dr a Fleshner and Dr Shridhar felt i could not continue the trial drug. Radiation or surgery was the next option. Thankfully, Dr Fleshner said we need to do further scans and biopsies to help determine the best options. Surprise!!! All tests came back negative, and my tumour appears to be gone. My Doctors and all the staff from admin to the systemic therapy floor, and of course, the hospital have saved my life and allowed me to continue to have a quality life. I will forever be indebted to them.
I am not a serious rider but occasionally would go for rides with friends. This is a big challenge for me as i have lost a lot of muscle mass and strength. I will be training daily to prepare myself for the ride, but if I cannot realistically do it on a bicycle, I will continue on an electric bike.
The Ride is Canada’s largest and most impactful cycling fundraiser and has raised over $320 million for cancer research since its inception.
Your support would mean so much. Thank you for helping to Carry The Fire to create a world free from the fear of cancer.
