The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to remind residents that Water Use Restrictions remain in effect throughout the summer until September 1, 2025.
Town Staff have observed several instances of irrigation systems operating outside the permitted watering hours. As a result, the Town will actively monitor for compliance and enforce the applicable penalties under the Water Use By-law. Property owners found in violation of the Water Use Restrictions may be subject to fines.
Stage 1 Water Use Restrictions include:
- Properties with odd-numbered addresses can water on odd-numbered calendar days between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
- Properties with even-numbered addresses can water on even-numbered calendar days between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
These restrictions apply to the outdoor use of water, including lawn watering and garden irrigation. Residents with automated irrigation systems should ensure that they are programmed to operate only during the permitted days and times. Watering with a watering can or washing a vehicle using a hand-held hose with a shut-off valve is permitted at any time.
Water Use Restrictions are in place annually from June 1 to September 1 and are necessary to ensure that water capacity remains sufficient to meet peak demand during busy weekends or in the event of an emergency.
