π¨π¦πβ COLLINGWOOD SPORTS HALL OF FAME ANNOUNCES INDUCTION CLASS OF 2026
The Board of Directors of the Collingwood Sports Hall of Fame is proud to announce the Induction Class
of 2026, recognizing six outstanding additions whose achievements and contributions have significantly
enriched the sporting heritage of Collingwood and the surrounding communities.
The upcoming induction marks the Hall of Fameβs 52nd year of celebrating athletic excellence. Since
founder Scotty Carmichael welcomed the inaugural class in 1974, the Hall has grown to honour 172
individuals and 42 teams whose accomplishments have left a lasting impact on sport at the local,
provincial, national, and international levels.

Following the Hallβs longstanding tradition of public nominations and a comprehensive selection
process, the Selection Committee and Board of Directors have chosen five individuals for induction into
the Hall of Fame and one championship team for recognition.






2026 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES
MAUREEN BURNS β Athlete (Golf)
A highly accomplished golfer, Maureen Burns has enjoyed success at the club, provincial, and
national levels throughout her distinguished career. Her achievements include:
- 1969 & 1970 Ontario Parent and Child Championship, Father/Daughter
Division, Champions
ο· 2005, 2007, 2010, Golf Association of Ontario, Huronia District Ladies Champion
ο· 2014 Ontario Women’s Senior Championship, Super Senior Champion
ο· 35+ Club Championships across Ontario and the United States.
STACEY VAN BOXMEER β Athlete (Soccer)
One of Collingwoodβs most accomplished soccer players, Stacey Van Boxmeer represented
Canada on the international stage and enjoyed a successful collegiate and professional career.
Her accomplishments include:
- Starting goalkeeper for Ontario Regional and Provincial U15 and U17 teams
- FIFA CONCACAF U19 Champion, where she was named the tournamentβs top
goalkeeper and participant at the 2004 FIFA Womenβs World Championship
in Thailand. - Member of the Indiana Hoosiers womenβs soccer program (2003β2007),
setting school records for fewest goals allowed in a season - Professional player with the Montreal Extreme, Toronto Lynx, and
Hamilton Avalanche
MADELEINE BOUCHER HARVIE β Builder (Downhill Skiing)
A visionary community leader, Madeleine Boucher Harvie, played a pivotal role in the
development of youth skiing in the Collingwood area. Her contributions include:
- Championing the creation of instructional, coaching, transportation,
and racing programs through the Blue Mountain Ski Club - Establishing opportunities that helped develop numerous future Hall of Fame
athlete inductees - Serving as President of the Blue Mountain Ski Club from 1941 to 1948
- Receiving Life Membership in the Collingwood Ski Club in 1972
- Community service during WWII focused on the Red Cross, Victory Bond sales
and the Blue Mountain Ski Club, and a post-war leadership role with the
Victorian Order of Nurses
TODD FUNSTON β Builder (Swimming)
For more than two decades, Todd Funston has been instrumental in the development of
competitive swimming in the region. His accomplishments include: - Head Coach of the Collingwood Collegiate Institute swim team, leading GBSSA
Championship teams in 2012, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2025 - GBSSA Swimming Convenor since 2010
- Recipient of the 2017-18 OFSAA Leadership in School Sport Award
- 27 years of coaching experience, including 21 years as a head coach
- Active swimmer and volunteer with the Georgian Bay Squall Masters Swim Team
DANNY WEBB β Builder (Football)
Widely respected throughout Canadian football, Danny Webb has dedicated more than four
decades to the sport as an equipment manager and mentor. His achievements include:
- Beginning his athletic support career with the Collingwood Shipbuilders Senior
Hockey Team - Serving as Head Equipment Manager of the Toronto Argonauts since 1985
- Contributing to eight Grey Cup Championship teams
- Receiving national recognition for his innovative halftime equipment
adjustments that helped secure the Argonautsβ victory in the 2017 Grey Cup - Co-authored the 2025 Football Canada Equipment Managers Handbook
- Supporting the CCI Fighting Owls football program for more than twenty years
2026 HALL OF FAME TEAM INDUCTION
2023-2024 COLLINGWOOD BLUES JUNIOR A HOCKEY TEAM
The 2023-24 Collingwood Blues earned their place in Hall of Fame history through one of the
most successful seasons ever achieved by a local hockey team.
- 2023-24 Ontario Junior Hockey League Buckland Cup Champions
- 2023-24 Canadian Junior Hockey League Centennial Cup National Champions
- The Induction Ceremony will be held on May 8, 2027, at the Collingwood Legion. The evening
will celebrate more than five decades of sporting excellence and recognize the remarkable
achievements of this newest class of inductees. Additional details regarding ticket sales, guest
speakers, and event programming will be announced in the coming months.

About the Collingwood Sports Hall of Fame
Established in 1974, the Collingwood Sports Hall of Fame preserves and celebrates the rich sporting heritage of
Collingwood and surrounding communities. Through its induction programs, exhibits, and special events, the Hall
recognizes athletes, teams, builders, and volunteers whose contributions have shaped local sport. Constructed
with community financial support in 1984, the Hall of Fame Room is located within the Eddie Bush Memorial
Arena and is open to the public during regular arena operating hours.
