Collingwood, ON [06 July 2026] The Town of Collingwood Council has adopted the 2026–2030 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan, a roadmap that will guide the Town’s work to make programs, services, facilities, and public spaces more accessible over the next five years.

The plan was created with the community, not just for the community. It reflects the experiences, ideas, and priorities shared by residents, people with disabilities, community organizations, Town staff, and the Accessibility Advisory Committee.

Following the principle of “Nothing About Us Without Us,” the Town made sure people with disabilities had many opportunities to help shape the plan. Their feedback was essential in identifying what the Town is doing well and where improvements are needed.

“Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their experiences and ideas,” said Mayor Yvonne Hamlin. “Your input helped create a plan that reflects our community and will guide our work to make Collingwood more accessible for everyone.”

The community engagement process included:

  • A public survey
  • In-person and virtual town halls
  • An engagement session with equity-deserving groups
  • A youth engagement session
  • Consultation with the Accessibility Advisory Committee
  • Feedback from Town staff and community partners

The plan outlines actions the Town will take between 2026 and 2030 to remove barriers, improve access, and build a more inclusive community. It also supports the Town’s commitment to meeting the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and creating a community where everyone can take part in daily life.

The Town thanks everyone who participated in the engagement process. Your feedback has helped create a practical plan that will guide accessibility improvements across the organization for years to come.

The 2026–2030 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan is available on the Town’s website.
