Meet Monty

Monty is a 3 years, 3 months old male Large Mixed Breed who weighs 29 kilograms and has been with us for 70 days.

Hi there! I’m Monty!

I’m handsome. I’m gorgeous. I’m smart. I’m fun. I’m… well, honestly, I’m not sure why you’re still reading because clearly you should already be coming to meet me.

My friends at the GTHS say I’m a very sweet boy who is working hard on my focus skills, and I’m definitely trying my best! I’m also VERY food motivated, so if you have treats, I have a feeling we’re going to become excellent friends. Possibly best friends. Definitely snack friends.

I do have one small… okay, maybe medium… okay, *very strong* opinion: I DO NOT LIKE BIKES.

Not a little. Not sometimes. Not “maybe if I get to know them.” I think bikes are suspicious, unnecessary and generally best kept at a very reasonable distance. Joggers and runners can also get me pretty excited, so my ideal person will help me keep some space from exciting things and give me something delicious to focus on. Quiet, low-traffic walking spots are much more my speed.

Other dogs can also get me a little worked up right now, although I have a history of being social with dogs, so there may absolutely be some dog friends in my future. I’ll just need slow, structured introductions in a neutral space and plenty of time to get comfortable. No rushing into instant BFF status, please! If you already have a dog, bring them along to meet me.

Cats? Haven’t met one yet, so that chapter of my autobiography remains unwritten. If I’m going to live with a kitty, I’ll need careful introductions and management.

Kids should be 10+ because I am a big boy with big-boy enthusiasm.

So, if you’re looking for a gorgeous, clever, food-loving dog who will turn heads everywhere you go, I’m your guy. People will probably stop you to say, “WOW, your dog is beautiful!”

Just one request: please make sure they aren’t riding a bicycle when they do it.

Because October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, my adoption fee is has been reduced to $225 to help me find my home that much faster. My adoption fee includes my spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, dewormer and a microchip. The GTHS is open for adoptions from 12pm-4:00pm, every single day of the week and they would be thrilled to introduce you to me! I can’t wait to meet you and am looking forward to starting my new life with my new family!

Meet Bernie

Bernie is a 6 years, 4 months old male Domestic Shorthair/Mix cat who weighs 6 kilograms and has been with us for 9 days.

Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Bernie, almost 6.5 years young, ridiculously handsome, wonderfully vocal, and blessed with an appetite that deserves its own fan club. I also have very specific opinions about pretty much everything.

When I first arrived at GTHS, I was a nervous fellow who wasn’t too sure about people. But with time, patience, and the discovery that humans are excellent providers of food and affection, I blossomed into the chatty, loving gentleman you see today. I’ll probably need a little time to settle into my new home, too, but trust me, I’m worth the wait!

Now, let’s talk about my greatest passion: FOOD! Breakfast, dinner, treats, Churu tubes… I love it all! I never leave a crumb behind, and if you crinkle a treat bag, I’ll appear faster than you can say “second dinner.” I also enjoy cozy naps, gentle affection, and chatting with my favourite humans.

Other cats? Well, I’m “selective”. And by selective, I mean my approved-feline-friend list is VERY short! Slow introductions are a must, and I’d be perfectly happy being your one-and-only king. Respectful kids could be a good fit, too, as long as they understand that even a handsome gentleman like me has his limits.

So, if you’re looking for a gorgeous, affectionate, slightly grumpy foodie with a big voice and very specific likes and dislikes, I might just be your guy. Give me time to settle in, keep the snacks coming, and I’ll reward you with purrs, cuddles, and plenty of conversation.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I believe I hear a treat bag opening. A gentleman has priorities.
