Concern over the United States has surged to the top of Canadians’ list of national priorities, overtaking jobs and the economy and underscoring how cross-border uncertainty continues to shape the political landscape.

Twenty-seven per cent of Canadians now cite relations with the United States as the country’s most important issue, up sharply from 11.4% four weeks earlier, while concern about jobs and the economy stands at 21.1%.

Against this backdrop, the Liberals maintain a commanding advantage in federal voting intentions, polling at 48.3%, compared with 30.9% for the Conservatives and 10.9% for the NDP. Smaller parties remain well behind, with the Bloc Québécois at 4.9%, the Green Party at 3.2% and the People’s Party at 1.4%.

Mark Carney also remains the dominant choice for prime minister. More than half of Canadians (56.1%) identify him as their preferred PM, compared with 21.1% for Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre.
