PET(S) OF THE WEEK: Hoka, Sperry, Volaris & Merrell

Four kittens, four little personalities, and one thing in common: they’re still learning that humans aren’t so scary after all.

Meet this week’s featured felines:

Hoka – A sweet, shy kitten who would love a quiet, secure space and a patient human to help build her confidence.

Sperry – A quiet little sweetheart who can be won over with Temptations, wand toys, and a little time to feel comfortable.

Volaris – An observant six-month-old who’s still figuring things out. Snacks, routine, and a gentle approach are the way to this kitty’s heart.

Merrell – A shy five-month-old who’s taking things one tiny paw-step at a time. Treats, toys, and yummy meals are helping make those human connections a little easier.

These four may need a little extra patience, but sometimes the most rewarding friendships are the ones that take time to grow. Could you be the person who helps one of them come out of their shell?

Meet Monty

Monty is a 3 years, 3 months old male Large Mixed Breed who weighs 31 kilograms and has been with us for 87 days.

Hi there! I’m Monty!

I’m handsome. I’m gorgeous. I’m smart. I’m fun. I’m… well, honestly, I’m not sure why you’re still reading because clearly you should already be coming to meet me.

My friends at the GTHS say I’m a very sweet boy who is working hard on my focus skills, and I’m definitely trying my best! I’m also VERY food motivated, so if you have treats, I have a feeling we’re going to become excellent friends. Possibly best friends. Definitely snack friends.

I do have one small… okay, maybe medium… okay, *very strong* opinion: I DO NOT LIKE BIKES.

Not a little. Not sometimes. Not “maybe if I get to know them.” I think bikes are suspicious, unnecessary and generally best kept at a very reasonable distance. Joggers and runners can also get me pretty excited, so my ideal person will help me keep some space from exciting things and give me something delicious to focus on. Quiet, low-traffic walking spots are much more my speed.

Other dogs can also get me a little worked up right now, although I have a history of being social with dogs, so there may absolutely be some dog friends in my future. I’ll just need slow, structured introductions in a neutral space and plenty of time to get comfortable. No rushing into instant BFF status, please! If you already have a dog, bring them along to meet me.

Cats? Haven’t met one yet, so that chapter of my autobiography remains unwritten. If I’m going to live with a kitty, I’ll need careful introductions and management.

Kids should be 10+ because I am a big boy with big-boy enthusiasm.

So, if you’re looking for a gorgeous, clever, food-loving dog who will turn heads everywhere you go, I’m your guy. People will probably stop you to say, “WOW, your dog is beautiful!”

Just one request: please make sure they aren’t riding a bicycle when they do it.

My adoption fee is $400 and includes my spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, dewormer and a microchip. If you want to learn more about me, please come visit the GTHS and speak with one of the amazing Adoption Counsellors! The GTHS is open for adoptions from 12pm-4:00pm, every single day of the week and they would be thrilled to introduce you to me! I can’t wait to meet you and am looking forward to starting my new life with my new family!
