“Although Fire Prevention Week is only one week of the year, it is a great time to plan and practice your home fire escape and ensure you have working smoke alarms on every level of your home. It is easy to be complacent and think ‘This will never happen to me’. Statistics show that in 2023 there were 741 home fires in Ontario with 109 fatalities and the majority of fatal fires had no evidence of working smoke alarms.” cautions Dan Thurman, Fire Chief.

If you have any questions about creating a fire escape plan, or smoke alarms, or if you need a smoke alarm and do not have the resources to purchase one, please get in touch with the Town of Collingwood Fire and Emergency Services. Your safety and well-being are our top priority!

If you are a leader of a community group and would like Collingwood Fire and Emergency Services to give a Fire Safety talk to your group, please email [email protected]. Community groups are also encouraged to register for our Fire Safety Feud event!
