April 27 to May 3 is National Volunteer Week

    Sharing is SO MUCH APPRECIATED!

Midhurst/April 23, 2025 – From April 27 to May 3, 2025, the County of Simcoe is joining Volunteer Canada in celebrating the 24 million volunteers from across Canada that give so much of their energy to building up our communities.

This year’s theme, Volunteers Makes Waveshighlights the impact that individuals can have in improving the lives and circumstances of so many. The County of Simcoe is grateful to the 256 Simcoe Strong volunteers, who donated more than 10,700 hours of their time to our Simcoe County Museum, Long-Term Care, Seniors Services, and Adult Day program locations operating by the County. We are also grateful to the volunteers who contributed to helping their friends, neighbours, and the community clean up following the recent ice storm that affected this region.

“National Volunteer Week is a time to honour the incredible contributions of volunteers across our country, county, and community,” said Warden Basil Clarke. “Recently, I witnessed firsthand the incredible impact of volunteerism. In the immediate aftermath of the ice storm that devastated so many areas, what stood out was neighbours coming together to ensure no one was left in the cold. Their generosity strengthened our communities and helped us endure the storm.”

The County encourages residents to take a moment this week to share a message of thanks through social media using the hashtags #VolunteersMakeWaves and #NVW2025.
