Increased Police Presence for Training Exercise in Collingwood

    Sharing is SO MUCH APPRECIATED!

(COLLNGWOOD, ON) – The Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is advising residents of an increased police presence at Our Lady of the Bay Catholic School on Monday, May 26, 2025, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP Detachment, alongside the Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and personnel from the In-Service Training (IST) unit, will be conducting a training exercise at the school. The exercise will include tactical footwork, incident response drills, scenario-based training, and a familiarization walkthrough of the facility.

The Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP is dedicated to protecting our youth and future generations, building strong community connections, and ensuring the safety of our schools and residents. While we hope such training is never needed, the possibility of critical incidents requires thorough preparation. This exercise strengthens our ability to respond effectively, keeping our communities safe.

Residents in the area may notice an increased presence of police vehicles and personnel during this time. The OPP assures the public that this is a planned training exercise, and there is no cause for concern. The OPP extends its appreciation to the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board for their partnership in facilitating this essential training opportunity.

For inquiries regarding this training exercise, please contact the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP Detachment at 705-445-4321 or 1-888-310-1122. In case of an emergency, please call 9-1-1.
