COLLINGWOOD OPP PROACTIVE TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGES
(COLLINGWOOD, ON) – Members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a motorist with impaired operation following a proactive traffic stop conducted while on general patrol.
On August 16, 2026, at approximately 4:00 a.m., officers conducted a proactive traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act offence in the area of First Street and High Street in Collingwood. During the investigation, officers formed grounds to commence an impaired driving investigation.
As a result, Mustafa KIRGUL, 44 years of age, of Hamilton, Ontario, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date. In addition to the charges, the accused’s driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
