Midhurst/May 1, 2026 – The County of Simcoe is once again recognizing May as Health and Emergency Services Appreciation Month, celebrating the dedicated professionals who protect, support, and care for residents across the region. From frontline responders to behind-the-scenes specialists, the collective efforts of these teams help build resilient communities and ensure that residents are prepared for, protected from, and supported through a wide range of health needs and emergency situations.
“Across our region, thousands of professionals and volunteers work every day to keep our communities healthy, safe, and supported,” said Warden Basil Clarke. “Health and Emergency Services Appreciation Month is an opportunity to recognize their commitment and to thank them for the essential work they do. Whether responding to emergencies, caring for seniors, or helping communities and residents prepare for the unexpected, their contributions make a tremendous difference.”
Providing emergency and community medical services, along with operating four long-term care homes and three seniors’ campuses of care takes a dedicated team of more than 1,500 staff who support residents both directly and behind the scenes. This May, during Health and Emergency Services Appreciation Month, we recognize every employee who keeps our programs running and our residents safe and thriving.
Recognition includes:
- National Physician’s Day
- First Responders Day
- Emergency Preparedness Week
- World Facilities Management Day
- National Nurses Week
- National Personal Support Worker Day
- Paramedic Services Week
