“If you can’t pay it back, pay it forward,”
The Jax Pays It Forward event is a heartfelt community initiative held annually at Sidelaunch Brewery in Collingwood, Ontario, to support the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) Foundation and Ronald McDonald House in Hamilton. Organized by Drew and Shawtelle Davenport, the event is inspired by their daughter, Jax, who was born with Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT), a heart condition requiring frequent emergency hospital visits. The family moved to Collingwood due to the exceptional care provided by CGMH, and this event is their way of giving back to the community and supporting families in similar situations.
Jax Pays It Forward stands out for its heartfelt mission, driven by personal experience, and its ability to unite the community for a meaningful cause. The event not only raises significant funds but also provides a fun, inclusive day for families while highlighting the importance of accessible healthcare and support for families in need. Its consistent growth, now in its sixth year, and the tangible impact on both local hospital services and Ronald McDonald House make it a cornerstone of community giving in Collingwood.
The family-friendly event featured live music, food trucks, face painting, bouncy castles, circus performers, a silent auction, a beer garden, cornhole, kids’ games, and appearances by characters like Paw Patrol.
