The Town of The Blue Mountains encourages members of the community to “Pitch-In” for Earth Week, taking place from April 20 to April 26, 2026!
Earth Week encourages participants of all ages to help clean up litter from parks, trails, shorelines and public spaces throughout their community during the week of Earth Day. Each year, Earth Day takes place on April 22 to raise awareness and motivate action on environmental issues.
This year, Climate Action Now Network (CANN) and the Beaver Valley Outreach (BVO) are hosting a Community Clean-Up event on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., meeting at Town Hall. Participants are asked to wear closed-toe shoes and bring their own gloves and water bottle. Grabbers, garbage bags, treats and prizes will be provided. All ages are welcome!
Whether attending a community clean-up event or choosing to “pitch-in” independently throughout the week, members of the public are encouraged to download the Ontario Public Litter Cleanup Guide for information on safe litter collection. Additional information and resources, including free waste-collection bags, will be available at the Climate Action Now Network table in the Town Hall atrium throughout Earth Week.
“Earth Week is an opportunity for our community to come together and take pride in caring for the places we share,” says Mayor Andrea Matrosovs. “Whether you are joining a community clean-up or helping out in your own neighbourhood, every effort contributes to a cleaner, healthier environment. It is always encouraging to see residents take part in both small and large ways to help keep The Blue Mountains beautiful.”
The Town also encourages Earth Week participants to separate any refundable containers from the collected litter, including wine, liquor and beer bottles, beer cans, plastic milk jugs and Millers Milk glass bottles and deliver these materials to the Bottles for BVO apple bin located at the Beaver Valley Outreach, or The Blue Mountains Landfill and Recycling Depot.
