Former Buddhist monk Dawa Dachhiri left his Himalayan monastery with a unique blend of discipline, compassion, and physical mastery.

Now living in the Swiss Alps, he prepares for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games while pursuing a deeply personal goal: funding a monastic school in his home village of Mera. To achieve it, he created the Solokhumbu Trail, a 300-km journey across Nepal’s sacred landscapes and Himalayan peaks. This film follows his transformation from monk to world-class trail runner and explores the land that shaped him — the Land of the Gods.
