
TWO DRIVERS CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING FOLLOWING SEPARATE COLLISIONS IN COLLINGWOOD

(Collingwood, ON) – Members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two motorists with impaired driving following separate motor vehicle collisions in the Town of Collingwood.
On September 28, 2026, at approximately 12:30 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle collision in the area of George Street and Ste. Marie Street. During the investigation, officers formed grounds to begin an impaired driving investigation.
As a result, Richard MAIDMENT, a 42-year-old resident of Collingwood, was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Careless driving
Later that day, at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers responded to a second motor vehicle collision in the area of Hume Street and Highway 26. During the investigation, officers formed grounds to begin an impaired driving investigation.
As a result, Peter JUZYTSCH, a 68-year-old resident of Elmvale, was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Failure or refusal to comply with a demand
- Careless driving
Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date to answer to the charges.
In addition to the charges, each driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.
