This has been quite a remarkable week for us. When I first saw King Theatre Company’s production of Tuesdays with Morrie a year ago, it profoundly affected me. I had to find a way for the company to agree to remount the production this year in Clarksburg for Theatre Collingwood. And I did. However, the title was originally under a naming-rights ban due to royalty agreements. So how were we to promote a play to our audiences when we could not say the name? How could I convince my staff? Well, we called it The Mystery Play, and I was convinced that once we announced it was Tuesdays with Morrie, people would rush to buy tickets. To say this was stressful was an understatement! I had promised my board it would sell. Tickets did not fly out the door. Our hard-working staff and volunteers had to work tirelessly to get the word out through phone calls, emails, posters, library displays, farmers’ markets, town hall displays, community fairs and festivals, radio, social media, and literally walking door to door with postcards. And I am so pleased to say that 5/6 performances are SOLD OUT, and the response from audiences has been exactly what I hoped for. They have been as blown away as I was!
If you bought tickets to Tuesdays with Morrie, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you have not bought tickets, we have 50 more tickets available for this Saturday morning at 11 am! You may think this is an unusual time for a show, but I am telling you it is a great time. Grab your partner or friends and have breakfast first (maybe at Brunchies in Thornbury) and then see the show, or see the show and then go for lunch. By the way, if you are pairing dining out with our shows, please tell the restaurant that you are there because you wanted to dine and see a Theatre Collingwood show! Restaurants are starting to see the effect we are having on them!

The show is 90 minutes long and has no intermission. Doors open 45 minutes before the show, for you to select your seats (and maybe visit the washroom). I guarantee you do not want to miss this production and the exquisite performances by Nicholas Rice and Josh Palmer.
Thank you so much for your support of Canadian live theatre!
