    Driver Arrested; Charges Laid

(SPRINGWATER TWP., ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), with the assistance of the OPP Central Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team, has laid charges in relation to a fatal collision that claimed the lives of two people in Springwater Township.

On February 8, 2025, at approximately 11:55 a.m., Huronia West OPP responded to a head-on collision involving three motor vehicles on County Road 27 between Flos Road 11 East and Baseline Road. Two people were pronounced deceased at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, Spencer FULTON, 30 years old of Midland, was charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

    • Dangerous operation causing death – two counts

    • Operation while prohibited

Following further investigation, the accused was charged with an additional 12 counts of operating a motor vehicle while prohibited contrary to the CC. These charges relate to 12 separate incidents that occurred between October 2019 and January 2025.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on April 2, 2025.

The investigation is continuing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Anyone with any information that may assist with the investigation, no matter how minor, is urged to contact the Huronia West OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or ontariocrimestoppers.ca

Driving while prohibited is a serious criminal offence. The OPP takes this offence seriously and will continue to follow up and thoroughly investigate those who continue to drive while prohibited, threatening the safety of others. Drivers and other road users can significantly contribute to safer roads by avoiding taking unnecessary risks and complying with all laws.
