(TAY TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), have seized a quantity of controlled substances, currency, and offence-related property following a drug trafficking investigation in Tay Township.
Yesterday afternoon, members of the CSCU conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Town of Midland and arrested one individual without incident. Following the arrest, officers executed authorized search warrants on a residence in Port McNicoll, as well as two associated vehicles.
As a result of the investigation, officers located and seized:
- approximately 220 grams of cocaine
- over $10,000 in Canadian currency
- approximately two ounces of gold, valued at over $12,000
- a prohibited pistol-grip crossbow
- scales and packaging materials consistent with drug trafficking
- a cellular device and additional offence-related property
As a result of the investigation, Chadwick CURNEW, 49 years, of Tay Township, has been charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine (two counts)
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
- Fail to Comply with a Prohibition Order
The accused was released on an Undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on August 13, 2026.
