    Sharing is SO MUCH APPRECIATED!

(Collingwood, ON) – Members of the Collingwood and Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged three different drivers with a total of eight offences over the weekend as result of impaired driving.

On January 19, 2025 Collingwood OPP conducted a traffic stop just before 7:00 PM on a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act infraction on Spruce Street in Collingwood. The officer immediately detected an odour of alcohol from the breath of the driver which initiated an impaired driving investigation. A roadside test with an approved screening device resulted in a fail. The female driver was arrested and transported to Collingwood detachment where she was charged after producing results more than twice the legal limit.

Dakotah Leblond, 38 year-old from Wasaga Beach was charged with:

    • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
    • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
    • Resist Peace Officer
    • Entire plate not plainly visible
    • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

On January 19, 2025 just before 6:00 AM a Blue Mountain resident near Tyrolean Lane reported that a vehicle had run through a stop sign at a nearby intersection and then collided with his vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. The driver became stuck in a snowbank. Blue Mountain OPP attended and located a male asleep in the driver seat. He was arrested at the scene.

Daniel Zacarelli, 39 year-old from York was charged with:

    • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

On January 17, 2025 just before 3:00 PM members of the Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP were dispatched to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver. Officers located the vehicle that was described travelling on Arthur Street West in Thornbury. During the traffic stop an approved screening device test was conducted and the male driver produced a fail. Further investigation found the individual to be driving with a suspended licence.

George Muller, 74 year-old male from Thornbury was charged with:

    • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
    • Driving while under suspension

Each were served a 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension, 7-day vehicle impoundment and an appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

The OPP remains committed to taking alcohol/drug impaired drivers off our roads through enforcement and public education. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.
