    Collingwood, ON – The Collingwood Museum is your go-to destination this summer with a full lineup of engaging exhibits, events, free walking tours, and summer programs. There’s something for everyone to enjoy!

    Beinn Gorm Highlanders Pipes and Drums Band: Celebrating 25 Years

    On now through August 23, 2025, explore the latest feature in our Community Collectors exhibit series, Beinn Gorm Highlanders Pipes and Drums Band: Celebrating 25 Years. This special exhibit explores the origins of the Beinn Gorm Highlanders, highlighting the band’s deep commitment and lasting contributions to the Collingwood community over the past quarter-century. Discover the band’s journey, traditions, and the vital role its members continue to play in local events and celebrations.

    To mark this milestone, join Museum staff and the Beinn Gorm Highlanders for a free outdoor concert on Tuesday, July 22 at 7:00 p.m. on the Museum Grounds. Celebrate 25 amazing years of music, tradition, and community spirit! Please bring a chair.

    A History Exposed: The Enslavement of Black People in Canada

    A History Exposed: The Enslavement of Black People in Canada, is on display until August 30. This powerful travelling exhibit explores Canada’s untold history of slavery through archival records and personal stories. This national travelling exhibit was created by the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 in partnership with guest curator Dr. Afua Cooper and the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia.

    Until July 26, explore a powerful companion display by Sheffield Park Black History and Cultural Museum that celebrates the vibrance and enduring nature of African Culture.

    Open Late Wednesdays, free admission

    Throughout the month of July, the Collingwood Museum will be open with free admission on Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during Jazz and Blues Live at the Station, presented by the South Georgian Bay Music Foundation. Come and experience local history before the music begins!

    Heritage Places Day, Collingwood Art and Heritage Walking Tours

    Historic Places Day is a national celebration of historic sites hosted by the National Trust for Canada! Step into Collingwood’s storied past and see how history continues to shape the town through its vibrant public art. Join staff on a free guided walking tour that explores the deep connections between Collingwood’s built heritage, industrial roots, and the creative works now found throughout our historic downtown. As you walk, you’ll encounter murals, sculptures, and installations that reflect the town’s shipbuilding legacy, changing landscapes, and evolving identity. Learn how artists have drawn inspiration from local stories, architecture, and community spirit to create the works that now enliven Collingwood’s streets.

    Tours depart from the Collingwood Museum on July 17 & 18, 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The tour is approximately 60 minutes or 2 km in length and registration is not required.

    Heritage-Inspired Summer Programs

    Calling all young explorers! Children ages 6-12 are invited to spend active, heritage-inspired mornings at the Collingwood Museum all summer long! From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, for nine weeks throughout July and August, participants will dive into hands-on history and creativity like never before! You can sign up for a single program or join us for as many as you’d like. Preregistration is required. $15 per child / $12 for museum members.

    Mobile Park Program at the Museum

    The Healthy Kids Trailer will be rolling onto the Museum’s grounds every Monday until the end of August from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.! Join us for free, outdoor fun designed to get kids moving, playing, and creating.

    Enjoy the incredible Imagination Playground, a block-based system that lets kids build and explore through creative play. Try your hand at giant games like Connect Four, Jenga, Tic Tac Toe, and Yahtzee, or invent your own activity at one of the trailer’s open play stations.

    No registration required, just drop by and jump into the fun! Suitable for children of all ages.

    This summer, we’re setting sail beyond Collingwood with four short story features on our Stories from Another Day podcast! Join host Ken Maher as we follow the incredible adventures of ships built right here in Collingwood, travelling oceans, crossing decades, and surviving wars, disasters, and even a few identity changes! Tune in on July 8, July 22, August 5, and August 19 on Spotify or your preferred podcast platform to enjoy these bonus episodes

    The Collingwood Museum is located at 45 St. Paul Street and is open to the public Monday to Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission to the museum is by donation.
