Collingwood OPP charge Two Drivers with Stunt Driving

(COLLINGWOOD, ON) – Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two drivers, aged 21 and 22, both from Collingwood, with stunt driving following a traffic stop on Highway 26.

In the early morning hours of Monday, July 28, 2025, an officer conducting speed enforcement on Highway 26 east of Poplar Sideroad in the Town of Collingwood observed two vehicles travelling westbound at a significantly high rate of speed.

The vehicles were side by side as they crested a hill and continued in parallel for several hundred metres before one began to pull ahead. Speeds were recorded at 148 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone.

Both drivers were charged with Speeding under the Highway Traffic Act and Stunt Driving – Excessive Speed, contrary to section 172(1). One of the drivers was additionally charged with Use Plate Not Authorized. Their vehicles were impounded for 14 days and their driver’s licences were suspended for 30 days..

Both drivers are set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 19, 2025.

The OPP reminds all motorists that excessive speed and aggressive driving behaviours pose serious risks to everyone on the road. Officers will continue proactive enforcement efforts to promote safe driving across the region.
