COLLINGWOOD OPP REMOVE TWO IMPAIRED DRIVERS FROM OUR ROADWAYS
(COLLINGWOOD, ON) – Members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two motorists with impaired operation following two separate traffic investigations.
On August 19, 2026, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers conducted a proactive traffic stop in the area of Ste. Marie Street and Market Lane, Collingwood. During the investigation, officers formed grounds to initiate an impaired driving investigation.
As a result, Brendan CALWELL, 31 year old of Collingwood, was arrested and charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
On August 20, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in the area of Sixth St and Concession 10 Road. Officers initiated a traffic stop. During the interaction, officers began an impaired driving investigation.
As a result, Nicole POIRIER, 32 year old of Wasaga Beach, was arrested and charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
Both accused individuals are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date to answer to the charges.
In addition to the charges, both drivers received a 90-day Driver’s License Suspension, and the vehicles they were operating were impounded for seven days.
