Midhurst/May 7, 2026 – The County of Simcoe is proud to celebrate Paramedic Services Week, May 17 to 23, 2026, honouring the dedicated professionals who deliver life‑saving care and essential support to residents across our region. This year, the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada’s national theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” highlights the collective responsibility we all share in supporting the people behind the care.
Paramedic Services Week is an opportunity to recognize not only the critical work Paramedics perform every day, but also the systems and supports that help them thrive. Improving outcomes extends beyond medicine, it includes investing in training, facilities, resources and opportunities. This week, we go beyond the ambulance to ensure that we can continue “Improving Outcomes, Together”.
“Paramedics are there for us during some of the most challenging moments in our lives,” said Warden Basil Clarke. “Their skill, compassion, and commitment make our communities safer and stronger. As we mark Paramedic Services Week, we honour our Paramedic Services professionals and say thank you for everything they do to care for our residents.”
Formal celebrations begin on Tuesday, May 12, with the swearing in of this year’s honorary Paramedic for a Day contest winner, Ishani, a Grade 5 student from Oro-Medonte. Ishani will receive a certificate, first aid bag, and stethoscope, and will take part in a mock exercise and photo opportunity with County of Simcoe paramedics. Media interested in attending are kindly asked to notify Service Simcoe.
Throughout Paramedic Services Week, paramedics will be attending community events across the region, highlighting the important work they do.
