(TOWNS OF MIDLAND, PENETANGUISHENE, TOWNSHIPS OF TINY, TAY, GEORGIAN BAY, ON)- An interim Detachment Commander has been named for the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) that came into effect April 14, 2025.
Inspector Mike Thurlow has been appointed by OPP Central Region Command staff to temporarily fulfill the duties of interim Detachment Commander during his tenure here at Southern Georgian Bay Detachment.
Inspector Thurlow has been a serving member of the Ontario Provincial Police for over 29 years and has spent the majority of his extensive career in Central Region, performing frontline policing duties across various detachments as well as Crime and Traffic Units. He has held numerous senior supervisory positions across the organization including Executive Officer to the Deputy Commissioner. Most recently, he managed communications for both the Central and East regions at the Provincial Communications Centre in Orillia. He and his family have proudly called Simcoe County home for over 25 years.
