INVESTIGATION INTO RESIDENTIAL FIRE LEADS TO ARSON CHARGE

(WASAGA BEACH, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a male with arson following an investigation into a at a residential property in March. 

On Sunday, March 22, 2026, at approximately 3:20 a.m., members of the Huronia West OPP and local emergency services personnel responded to a structure fire on Mosely Street, near 21st Street North, in the Town of Wasaga Beach. The fire was determined to be suspicious in nature and members of the Huronia West Crime Unit began investigating the incident as a possible arson.

On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Navaneethan SRIKANDARAJAH, 50-years-old from Markham, was arrested and charged with arson, contrary to section 434 of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
