Male Charged Following Incident at Collingwood Coffee Shop

(COLLNGWOOD, ON) – On May 27, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a disturbance at a coffee shop on First Street in
Collingwood.


Police received information that a male was throwing rocks at passing vehicles and had damaged the entrance to the business. Upon arrival, officers attempted to speak with the suspect, who resisted arrest and assaulted an officer during the incident. The officer sustained a notable eye injury and was treated at a local hospital before being released. The male, identified as 32-year-old James BLACKMORE of Wasaga Beach, has been charged with:

  • Assault a Peace Officer – Section 270(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Resist Peace Officer – Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Mischief – Destroys or Damages Property – Section 430(1)(a) of the Criminal
    Code
  • Causing a Disturbance – Section 175(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Public Intoxication – Section 31(4) of the Liquor Licence and Control Act
    The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on June 24, 2025.
