Midhurst/January 15, 2026 – The County of Simcoe is proud to have supported the successful completion of 112 housing projects through the 2025 Age‑Friendly Seniors Housing Grant Program. This impressive response highlights both the strong commitment of our communities and the growing demand for accessible, age‑friendly housing options across the region.

The Age-Friendly Seniors Housing Grant Program is a key initiative identified in the Simcoe County 2025–2030 Positive Aging Strategy. Since Simcoe County Council approved an annual allocation of $500,000 in 2018, the program has helped advance 559 accessible, adaptable, and inclusive housing projects that enable older adults to age safely and independently in their homes.

“Supporting older adults to live independently, safely, and comfortably is a priority for our Council,” said Warden Basil Clarke. “The Age-Friendly Seniors Housing Grant Program continues to make a meaningful difference across our communities by helping residents adapt their homes and improve accessibility. We are proud to invest in initiatives that enhance quality of life and allow seniors to stay in their homes and community longer.”

Eligible applicants include individuals and organizations that have completed qualifying housing projects within the County of Simcoe, excluding the cities of Barrie and Orillia.

The County will launch the 2026 Age-Friendly Housing Grant on March 1, 2026, with applications accepted until May 31, 2026.
