Collingwood, ON [14 August 2025] If you’ve ever considered offering a short-term accommodation (STA) in your Collingwood home, it’s important to understand the rules to be a compliant and successful host. Learn all about the Town’s STA Licensing By-law, licensing requirements, and how to apply at an upcoming information session on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., in the FreeSchools Room at the Collingwood Public Library, located at 55 Ste Marie St. Registration is not required.
The STA Licensing Information Session is an informal, drop-in style event where Town staff will be available to answer questions and provide guidance on the licensing process. Whether you plan to become a host or are curious about STAs in Collingwood, this session will provide you with information on the requirements and offer one-on-one support.
Did you know? STA is defined as the rental of a dwelling unit, or part of a dwelling unit, for 28 days or less. These rentals are commonly advertised on platforms like Airbnb and VRBO. In response to growing demand and community concerns, the Town introduced STA Licensing By-law 2024-078, which took effect on January 6, 2025, to support the safety and responsible operations of STAs in the community.
If you’re unable to attend the Licensing Information Session on September 2, 2025, you can learn more about STAs in Collingwood atwww.collingwood.ca/STA or by contacting the By-law Services Division at bylaw@collingwood.ca. Together, we can contribute to a safe, responsible, and compliant community!
